Recently out of the Dark Ages – the term used for the time in your youth when Lego-bricks seems like a childish toy and a later time, when you rediscover the joy of playing with the bricks – one of the first old sets I decide to build was the Garage #361.
As a way of getting the feel for the bricks again, I decided to add more more detail to the old, charming set.
The original set is wonderful in its simplicity, thematically far away from the countless police stations, fire brigades, accidents, crimes and more that seem to crowd the Lego cities. This set is simply a small garage, perhaps the home of a mechanic that would fit into any town from between the World Wars till today.
In order to better match the wonderful new modular sets in the Creative series, I added a lot of junk next to the garage – tires, a motor, some chain as well as assorted junk.
Above the side door I placed a simple lamp and some of the new brick-bricks (what else hould they be called!?) to model a decaying building.
Finally, a grey floor inside, a lot of grass and some dandelions to complete the negleted look along with some dark grey pieces on the roof completed the new look of the old building.
Simple, and very satisfying 🙂
