About Epoch

Welcome to Epoch – a blog about modelling and history.

For decades, I have enjoyed collecting, building, painting and playing with models of all kinds, and eventually I figured out it was fun to blog about them as well. Epoch is an attempt to gather blog posts from the many sites, I have created over time.

Some people stay true to a single scale or a single theme. I like many scales and many epochs, so be warned: This blog does not have a clear direction! 🙂

Nonetheless, some shared themes are present here – more are on the way.

One theme are stories of a fictional, but somewhat realistic place, namely the Port of Hambeck. Hambeck is a medieval town, set in the 1400s in northern Europe, and a mix of various cities and towns like Hamburg, Lübeck, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Tallinn, Rostock, Danzig and more…

The Port of Hambeck is coming alive by modelbuilding in 28mm scale, about 1:56 scale.

Please comment, suggest improvements or link to interesting history that might be relevant as much as you like. You can also contact me by email: gamlejernbaner@proton.me.
